Wrestling Centred MMA (diary entry)

Wrestling Centric MMA08.01.2025

My first 1.5 hour private lesson of 2025 (fourth lesson overall this month) brought us back onto focusing individual disciplines that influence MMA. This lesson was the turn of Wrestling. After a warm-up of muscle activation and dynamic stretching we covered the following 3-minute rounds:

  1. Grip sparring
  2. Grip sparring with MMA gloves
  3. Takedown sparring with MMA gloves
  4. Par terre sparring
  5. Ditto
  6. Clinch permitting punches and knees
  7. Clinch permitting all strikes
  8. Par terre/turtle sparring with all strikes (5 uninterrupted punches to the head or knees to the body wins)
  9. Ditto
  10. Takedown versus defence all strikes permitted
  11. Ditto

We finished static and PNF stretching.
