25.01.21 My second Monday night client began her new 10 hour course on stand-up fighting and kickboxing. She trains with her lockdown partner who is recoverying from knee surgery who we adapt the kicking techniques to punching techniques. 29.09.20 Tuesday night’s first lesson saw my client focus on the peek-a-boo style of boxing. It was a good opportunity to unpick, deconstruct and rebuild form, creating stronger habits. The lesson was divided up into an outline of using pendulum footwork, angled footwork, slipping, pullbacks and ducking before isolating and combining these through six rounds, finishing on a six-part seventh round of technique/speed/power development. 30.05.2018   This morning marked my client’s second lesson in Western Boxing for Martial Arts Cross Training. We continued to develop footwork and the jab, and I introduced the cross. He also had an opportunity to engage in some light sparring.   Training began with some muscle activation exercises. After some mobility exercises, we did some squats and movement patterns. 24.05.2018   Second early bird training this week with the usual 5:30 a.m. start and my client’s first lesson in Western Boxing for Martial Arts Cross Training.   We immediately began with footwork – forwards, backwards, sideways and v-stepping. This was trained first in a standard freeway as a warm-up exercise. Then markers were introduced and we also used a tyre to discipline maintaining a strong stance throughout the movement. We revised head movement, which had been his primary interest when he first booked my services, and then focused the majority of the lesson on integrating footwork patterns. 06.03.18 Tonight’s session was my client’s second lesson in his first course Western Boxing for Martial Arts Cross Training. We revised basic footwork drills and slipping to the inside and to the outside. This was done using tyres, obstacles and as mirror partner-work. Tyres were initially used just promote better coordination, but it can be a very effective form of restrictive training when used for partner-work.
