05.12.19   My junior clients covered their penultimate lesson in Submission Grappling/Ground-Fighting on Thursday evening. I introduced the butterfly guard, half-guard and back mount as well as the butterfly sweep, knee shield and rear naked choke. Ground-Fighting Workshop (diary entry)

23.11.19   This Saturday I taught a special 2-hour workshop for the Oxford School of Martial Arts on Ground-Fighting. My mandate was to help prepare prospective candidates for the last half hour of their black belt karate grading, focusing on one specific area. This grading involves 30 minutes of non-stop low rules sparring whereby it is highly likely that the candidates will end up on the ground and fighting from their backs. 12.11.19   My first evening class of Tuesday saw the beginning of my client’s second course on Submission Grappling/Ground-Fighting. Tonight’s lesson mainly focused on the butterfly guard, back-mount and the half-guard.   We warmed up with crawling exercises and various callisthenics off the back. 08.09.18 This morning my client reached his final lesson of a 10 hour course on MMA ground-fighting. He made the decision to continue his training next time with a course on comprehensive MMA. We focused on the oma plata to complete our basic series on submissions from the guard, but the main area of training was blending punching with all guard positions and submissions.
