The workshops have returned! Tonight saw four of my private clients plus one guest focus on Submission Grappling for three hours. The lesson largely consisted of constraints-led games, specifically targeting certain areas of the ground-fighting game, mainly looking at the guard in the general.
We warmed up with sport-specific activities including snaking forward and backward drills with a partner increasing resistance.
We used the following games:
- Escape or maintain pin without using arms or hands
- Break stand-up or break posture from guard (guard must remained closed)
- Both above with the hands now being used
- Neck, neck, shoulder
- Begin in arm-bar position from guard – objective to transition to other side arm-bar, omoplata or triangle choke vs objective to escape
- As above with triangle position
- As above with omoplata position
- Begin in reverse arm-bar – objective to get foot under chin (gogolplata) vs objective to escape
- Begin with foot under chin – objective to get hands behind neck versus objective to remove foot
The workshop finished with some technical work on passing through or under the guard.
