Strike to shoot (diary entry)

Wednesday night’s 1.5 hour private class continued our Mixed Martial Arts training and this time our focus went Wrestling and the clinch. I was specifically interested in combining stand-up range with shooting and takedowns. After our initial warm-up we followed this routine:

Warm-up rounds (2 minutes):

  1. Shoulder tag
  2. Behind knee tag
  3. Asymmetrical Ground – leg tag vs head tag
  4. Ditto

Training rounds (3-minutes)

  1. Wrestling to takedown with MMA gloves
  2. Ditto
  3. Shoot-Boxing
  4. Ditto
  5. Shoot-Kickboxing
  6. Ditto

MMA rounds (free-sparring) 2 x 5 minute rounds
