I returned to Wivenhoe in Colchester to teach a seminar for Kuroten Practical Karate. This is the third time Tracey Radley (KPK's founder) has booked me to teach a seminar. We continued our work from last time using the "Vagabond Warriors: Guttersniping" model, which focuses on ground-fighting through the lens of Submission Grappling, Mixed Martial Arts and Self-Defence.
There was an emphasis on attacking from defending against scarf-hold and we also covered some technical work on arm-triangle, snake-choke, Americana and scarf-hold arm-bar.

The seminar included the following live, specific, positional and constraints-led sparring:
Submission grappling section:
Bears vs snakes movement training
"Crazy Baby" vs butterfly guard
Ditto with stand-up option
No hands traditional scarf-hold - objective to get head behind shoulder vs escape
Ditto with under-hook scarf-hold
Traditional scarf-hold - get submission position vs escape
Ditto with under-hook scarf-hold
Hangman team game
Attacking with the scarf-hold arm-bar Going for a snake-choke Escaping a front head-lock

MMA section:
Traditional scarf-hold - with added strikes
Under-hook scarf-hold - with added strikes
Ground 'n pound to the wall - push to the wall versus stand-up, sweep or submit
Ground 'n pound with permitted head-butts, elbows and knees to the head (full-face head guards mandatory)
Ground 'n pound - taking it to the wall! Jamie Clubb demonstrating extra techniques permitted in this form of MMA
Self-defence section:
Ground 'n pound with the above plus gouges and bites simulated on head-guards
Asymmetrical ground-fighting with extra person attacking if fighter rises to their feet (to test balance and continued aggression)
